Kakadu Bird Watching tour June14

My wife Annie and I (from Sydney) went on the above tour earlier this week starting on Monday (14 June) and finishing on Wednesday (16 June). We were teamed with an American named Denise. Because of late rain we were unable to visit the Jim Jim or Twin Falls. Denise was a bird enthusiast; my wife and I were not; initially anyway. It was to be the culmination of a month 'free' touring for us in the Kimberly and Territory - a fitting culmination to a wonderful month.
The aim of this feedback is to register with you our compliments for the tour leader - Luke Paterson. The three of us were the complete party and although straddling sixty, were all fit and adventurous. We are not backpackers, perhaps it better to describe us all as thinking tourists. For us Luke was the perfect guide.
He was courteous, attentive and knowledgeable. He made us feel at ease quickly and allowed us to engage with one another while still injecting his significant knowledge of the flora, fauna and history of the indigenous population. Indeed, his knowledge of the birdlife in particular was remarkable and satisfied all of Denise's desires to become familiar with our birds; my wife and I are now interested in this subject. His obvious respect and admiration for the indigenous population was always apparent and this too, added to our experience. He led us - gently - up hill and down dale; he fed us, he educated and entertained us - as I said, a perfect guide.
He chauffeured with care us in his own vehicle which was sound, clean and comfortable - a far cry from those which Annie and I had hired for the Gibb River Road!
We made the point to ensure that Luke was aware of our opinion of him as we parted in Darwin. I had the impression he had enjoyed the experience as much as us. But let me assure you, for us it would have been a far less enjoyable or educational experience with another. He is a fine advert for your firm and guides in the Territory. We were most impressed with his attitude and his plans for the future in the industry. My advice is for you work with Luke and support his aspirations within the tourism area; should you fail to do this I fear you may loose a very valuable asset.
On our behalf please pass on my thanks to Luke and wish him well in the future.
We will be back ............ sometime.
