Good Vibrations

MAKING A DIFFERENCE...

Our crew and staff enjoy working for a company that "gives back" to the people around us and the places we explore - we call this "Good Vibrations". This is something we do for our own satisfaction, and maybe it's something you may also want to get involved with?

Good Vibrations is a staff driven community program. We support two very worthy causes, in a very practical fashion. Our staff gives their time to volunteer for activities, our company donates tours for their use, and we fundraise at work. You get the idea! It is real and it is hands on....and not just a nice slogan.

GETTING BEHIND EARTH HOUR 2010

Earth Hour in the OutbackEnjoying the outback campfire

In 2009 hundreds of millions of people around the world showed their support by turning off theirlights for one hour.  Earth Hour 2010 will continue to be a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community.  A call to stand up, to show leadership and be responsiblefor our future.

Intrepid Connections has signed up, committing the company to take action in whatever way we can.  The minimum commitment is to turn off your lights for one hour, Earth Hour, 8.30pm, Saturday 27th March 2010. The hour is symbolic.  But the discussion and actions that may follow are important.

On 28 March 2009 at 8pm Intrepid Connections staff and travellers got behind the Earth Hour, around Australia. In the Northern Territory, our camping safaris dined by candle light; while in NZ our groups also "switched off" in the name of the environment. Plus, staff made their own individual contributions both at home and in their offices/depots around the country. Check out www.earthhour.org for more info on this global movement.

ImageThe world around us is something we cannot take for granted. Conservation Volunteers (www.conservationvolunteers.com.au) is a not for profit organisation dedicated to real, practical conservation activities. Conservation Volunteers "welcomes everyone with a love of the outdoors and an interest in the environment". A match made in heaven! We try and build CV activities into our tours, and encourage travellers to take a Conservation Volunteers experience in Australia or NZ as part of their time here. We use CV for our own staff "away trips" as well.

In addition to the above, we have started a recycling drive at each of our operations areas - but that is nothing to brag about - everyone should be recycling!

In addition to our work, our parent company APT also supports a wide range of cool charities - so they're feeling the good vibrations too!
